EdWeek 2018 - theme and dates announced

This year's Education Week will be held from Monday 6 August to Friday 10 August 2018 (Term 3, Week 3). The theme for Education Week is ‘Today's schools – creating tomorrow's world'. This theme communicates how NSW public schools are equipping young people with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing, globalised world. Home Reading and Attendance Celebrations

Students have been working hard all year to come to school and participate in daily home reading. This term they were lucky enough to participate in two exciting celebrations - Attendance Month was celebrated with delicious slushies, and home reading was celebrated by a treat from the ice cream van! Performed by Island Warriors, Marrabang Wagagee, and supported by the BPS Choir, Funky Buckets Drumming Group, Assyrian Dance Group and the Asian Dragons dance group. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. Selective High School Applications - Year 7 2019

Some primary schools across NSW offer places in ‘opportunity classes' for gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6. To be considered for placement students must sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test. For information about applying and the placement process go to https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5. Selective high schools cater for the specific needs of high achieving gifted students who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates at their own academic and social level.... Read more

NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. Book Week Celebrations

We had a fantastic time today celebrating Book Week! We had an amazing "book-nic", where we got to sit outside and enjoy a book with our class and families. We also got to dress up as our favourite book characters, there were some fantastic costumes! We ended the day with a special assembly run by our library monitors, where they announced the winners of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards for 2017. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. It provides an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online assessment platform but is not an assessment of student ability.... Read more

Next week (Monday 31 July – Friday 4 August) is Education Week, a statewide annual event to celebrate public education in NSW. Welcome to Term 3!

A big welcome back to all staff, students and community members, and a special welcome to our new students starting this term. We have lots of exciting things planned for Term 3 and students will be doing lots of exciting learning. Cross Country Colour Run 2017 We had a fantastic time at the Cross Country Colour run, and raised some money for the 5/6 camp. The students loved running through coloured powder and colouring their white shirts! Welcome back to Term 2! This week we commemorated ANZAC day with a ceremony that took place on Thursday the 27th of April. The SRC did a fantastic job of running the ceremony, and all students behaved respectfully for such an important assembly. Where has the term gone?! It is already the end of Week 11 and we have had lots to celebrate. Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold.
